Why fleece? Fleece material adds a bit more insulating warmth on windy, blustery winter days. Second, fleece is a much more quiet material compared to nylon or canvas.
Do you offer other fabrics? Yes, quantities of yarn and burlap are included in the kit, but the pre-cut one inch fleece strips are the main fabric. We realized Ghillie-Blaze would draw scrutiny from local law enforcement and game wardens. This is the main reason we do not exclusively use thread, yarn or shredded burlap as the main material because it is too difficult to determine and measure square inches on these materials (if law enforcement or DNR feel so inclined to do so). This is mainly a concern with the Orange Compliance Ghillie Serape. We cut the materials to approximate lengths and widths for productivity reasons. You may modify the material in the kit by cutting the material strips into smaller widths or lengths. But in doing so, we can no longer accept the kit as a return.
Is Ghillie-Blaze strictly for "trophy hunters"? No. Ghillie-Blaze is designed for all hunters who want to be successful hunters, from the fledgling youngster to the seasoned adult and can be used for ANY hunting season requiring blaze orange.
I have a favorite hunting cap. Will Ghillie-Blaze work on my hat? Yes. Ghillie-Blaze is designed to be attached to any style hat with material and instructions how to attach Ghillie-Blaze temporarily or permanently.
Do you offer pre-made hats or caps? No. It would be cost-prohibitive for us to do so at this time.
Is Ghillie-Blaze waterproof? No. After-market waterproofing treatments are available at many sporting goods stores.
Is Ghillie-Blaze fire-flame retardant? No. 100% polyester is flammable and like ALL ghillie-type clothing should be treated with a fire retarding agent.
I rely on my peripheral vision, will Ghillie-Blaze obstruct my vision? No. Because Ghillie-Blaze is customizable, you can add or remove fabric at will. If you need certain areas of your vision to be unobstructed, simply leave those areas clear of material.
Is Ghillie-Blaze removable? Yes. To facilitate washing and to provide easy switching from different hat styles we made Ghillie-Blaze able to be easily attached and removed from a variety of hat styles.
Is Ghillie-Blaze washable? Yes. Gently hand wash Ghillie-Blaze using a scent-free hunters laundry soap. Do not use a machine washer.
